The Road to Jerusalem (2009–) is a project by the Palestinian artist Khaled Hourani, created as part of the celebration of Jerusalem – Arabic Cultural Capital 2009.
The initial concept was to bring a piece of the Cultural Capital to Palestinians living in the West-bank and in Gaza, since they are prevented from visiting the city by the Israeli occupation and apartheid-regime. Hourani placed around a hundred milestones in various locations, each marking the distance from that place to Jerusalem/Al Quds.

In October 2009, and in collaboration with Khaled Hourani, I developed an under-project to his The Road to Jerusalem, Milestone Jerusalem::Norway. Four Milestones were produced in Hebron in October – one each for Tromsø, Trondheim, Hell and Oslo. Each Milestone were given as a gift to the municipalities.

The Milestones was produced at Hebron Ceramic and Glass factory. The eighty tiles was carefully wrapped Palestinian newspapers, safely placed in my luggage, and brought to Norway through check-points and border control. At Ben Gurion airport, the border guards insisted on x-raying each one of the eighty tiles. And "for my own safety", I had to be strip searched and interrogated.

Khaled Houranis The Road to Jerusalem has expanded world-wide, and is still ongoing.
